Article 21: AI-Powered Segment Detection
We’re excited to announce the beta launch of our AI-Powered Segment Detection for Broadcast, a new enhancement to the DVR clipping tool that helps identify distinct segments within a broadcast.
This feature uses AI to analyze caption text and automatically detect where one news segment ends and another begins. The resulting segment boundaries are displayed as visual markers in the interface, giving producers an easier, faster way to navigate lengthy broadcasts without excessive scrubbing.
What’s New
We’ve introduced a new enhancement to the DVR clipping tool that automatically detects segment boundaries within a broadcast using AI analysis of caption text.
- Visual markers now highlight where news segments begin and end
- Navigate long broadcasts faster, with less manual scrubbing
- Helps producers quickly pinpoint the content they need
Caveats
- When a new broadcast segment is first loaded, there may be a short delay as the system identifies and displays all AI-generated segments. Once the initial load is complete, the segments are cached—providing a faster, smoother experience in future interactions.
- Some of the AI-identified segments may be very short—just a few seconds long. As we continue to learn and gather your feedback, we’ll refine how the AI determines segment boundaries and filter out clips that aren’t valuable to you.
Steps to view the AI segments
1. Navigate to the media library.
6. Select on any of the segments from the right rail and observe the in and out points are automatically set.
7. From there, you can adjust the clip as needed or select the clip icon to name the clip and select "Clip" to save it.
